As we left Cartagena, Colombia, the sun was starting to set. Two days sailing on the open Caribbean sea awaited us before reaching the beautiful San Blás islands just off the Panamanian coast. San Blás is a series of 378 islands of which only 49 are inhabited by the fiercely independent Kuna Indians. Some of the islands are just how you would imagine deserted islands, small enough to only carry a handful of palm trees. Lazy days sailing, snorkelling, fishing, swimming and reading books. This must be what being in paradise feels like.
